Donnie Eugene Atkins

Donnie Eugene Atkins, 62, of Lake Park, died on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Valdosta on February 10, 1958 and has been a lifelong resident of the Lake Park/Echols County area. He retired after 30 years of service from Valdosta State University having worked as a painter in the maintenance department. He loved the great outdoors and enjoy many outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, and camping and he also loved to farm. He was a member of Enoch Creek Church.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Atkins of Lake Park; his beloved dog, Snowy; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Amanda Atkins of Valdosta; two grandchildren, Cire Atkins and Caya Atkins both of Valdosta; father and step-mother, Eugene and Hazel Atkins of Lake Park; brother and sister-in-law, Marty and Terry Atkins of Valdosta; niece, Melissa Atkins and great-niece Raylen Brown both of Lake Park; step-son, David Bentz of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his mother, Merle Carter Atkins.
Services for Donnie Eugene Atkins will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Enoch Creek Church with Rev. Zach Corbett and Rev. Mickey Corbett officiating.
