Derrick Alan Cain

Derrick Alan Cain, 46, of Katy Texas, died on Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Memorial Herman Katy Hospital in Katy, Texas following a brief illness. He was born in Macon, Georgia on September 23, 1968 and grew up in Valdosta, Georgia. Derrick graduated from Valdosta State University and had been employed with Regional Acceptance, a subsidiary of BB&T Bank, as a branch manager in the Tampa, Florida area and the Katy, Texas location. Derrick had earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was an avid Florida Gators and Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during the first Persian Gulf War (Desert Storm). He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his father, Atlee Cain of Valdosta; his sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Don Taylor of Forsyth, Georgia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen and Julie Cain and Mark and Wendy Cain all of Valdosta; his nieces and nephews, Aaron Cain, Stacy Cain, Heather Strickland, Ashley Strickland, Celeste Taylor, Kristi Taylor, and Shelton Cain. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Patricia Cain.

A memorial service for Derrick Alan Cain will be held at the family residence at 614 Ledgedale Drive Valdosta, Georgia 31602 on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or to the Boy Scouts of America.
