Derreth Deloach Newberry

Derreth DeLoach Newberry of Jacksonville, Florida and formerly of Valdosta passed away Friday March 12th, 2021 at the age of 71. She was born in Valdosta, GA on April 21, 1949, and was the youngest daughter of J.D. and Vashti DeLoach. In her early years, she developed a lifelong love for animals, especially cats, the beach, and Coca-Cola. She was a graduate of Valdosta High School’s 1967 class. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Nursing from Valdosta State College. Her career involved various roles in the field of nursing, ranging from specialized care for patients with eating disorders to the teaching of surgical technology. Derreth was a devout Christian involved in many different types of ministry work throughout her life. She was most proud of her time spent ministering to prisoners across the state of Georgia and her contributions to various Zionist organizations. She is preceded in death by her parents J.D. and Vashti, her siblings Judy DeLoach, Douglas DeLoach, and her husband Rev. James L. Newberry Jr. She is survived by her five children, Amanda Baranouski (Igor), Justin Newberry, Caleb Newberry (Brittany), Jordan Newberry (Jessica), Chelsae Baxley (Josh), and her grandchildren, Katya, James, Maximus, and Judah, all of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by her sister Lyndal DeLoach Worth of Valdosta, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, March 18, 2021 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with her nephew, Dru DeLoach officiating. Burial will follow in the Wayfare Cemetery in Echols County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
