Deborah 'Debbie' Maddox Davis

Deborah �Debbie� Maddox Davis, 60, of Valdosta, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 8, 2011.

She was born February 20, 1951 in Gadsden, Alabama, a daughter of Jim Maddox and the late Delores Jones Maddox. Debbie was a graduate of the University of Georgia, and taught at W.G. Nunn Elementary School, later retiring.

Debbie was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Valdosta Junior Service League and was an avid Bridge player.

She is survived by two sons, Jess Davis, Bart and wife Angie Davis; one daughter, Carly Davis; her father and step-mother, Jim and Barbara Maddox; two sisters, Terri Maddox, and Jamie and husband Danny Pitts, all of Valdosta; two nieces, Samantha and husband Jon Flowers of Roswell, and Jenny and husband Josh Carroll of Valdosta; two nephews, Mitchell Pitts of Destin, FL, and Reese Pitts of Valdosta. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buck Davis, and her mother-in-law, Marie Mullis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011, in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Rev. Mac Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
