David James Kindschy

April 28, 1936 — March 27, 2023

David James Kindschy, 86 of Hahira, died on March 27, 2023, in Cook County. Born in Arcadia, Wisconsin, on April 28, 1936, he was the son of the late Ralph C. and Gertrude Becker Kindschy. He was a 1954 graduate of Blair High School in Blair, Wisconsin. David proudly served his country in the United States Army, Army Reserves and the United States Air Force for a total of 22 years and 6 months. He served at 7 overseas bases and 9 military bases throughout his career. A Korean and a Vietnam Veteran, he was the recipient of many commendations. After his military service, David managed a Mess Attendant contract for 8 years at Moody Air Force Base. He managed Popeyes Fried Chicken for 24 years and was chef for the Georgia Sheriff’s Boys Ranch for nearly 9 years, which he said was the best job he ever had. He loved cooking for the boys as much as the boys loved him. The boys made a change in David’s life as he watched them mature and grow into fine young men, many of them going on to become ministers, doctors, serving in the military or heading off to college.

David always showed pride in his ability to learn something new or do something different. His hobbies were cooking, quilting, ceramics, and embroidery.
