Clyde W. Stoeffler

Clyde Stoeffler, 72, of Hahira, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Jacksonville, Florida on June 1, 1945, Clyde was the son of the late Norman and Mary Lena Stewart Stoeffler. Formerly of Palatka, Florida, he was a graduate of Palatka High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force and worked as a cryptology/signal intelligence officer and was honorably discharged. Clyde lived in Pennsylvania for a short time, then, moved back to Palatka where he worked in the family shoe business before purchasing his father’s shoe repair business in the early 1970’s. In 1978 the Stoeffler’s came to Valdosta to start a shoe repair business which Clyde operated for 20 years until selling the business to his son. In the mid 1980’s he opened Boot Hill Western Wear. The Stoeffler’s ran Boot Hill until selling the business in 2008. Clyde was an avid stamp collector, collecting stamps from all over the world.
Survivors are his wife of 46 years, Christianne Stoeffler of Hahira, his children, Christina Taylor and Eugene Reeves of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, Pamela Tankesley of York, Pennsylvania, Tommy and Paris Stoeffler of Hahira, Tracy and Barry Reem of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, Sandra and Jeff Culpepper of Hahira, Rodney and Sarah Stoeffler of Deltona, Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Shirley Stoeffler of St. Mary’s; grandchildren, Brandon and Justin Reeves, Ryan Caskey, Miranda Lee, Douglas Shuman, Aaron Shuman, Meagan Litton, Charles Watson, Heather Soltani, Josh Reem, Ashley Reem, Jay, Andrew, and Kaley Culpepper and ten great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and his beloved pets, Lola and Patches. Clyde was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Pastor Rick Hofmeister will lead the prayer. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the VFW or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
