Claire Lockett Hall

June 12, 1931 — October 31, 2019

Claire Lockett Hall of Valdosta passed away at her residence on October 31, 2019.
She was born in Atlanta Georgia on June 12, 1931 to the late Margaret Beatrice Haley Lockett and James Carl Lockett Sr. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her uncle William Joseph Haley and two brothers James Carl Lockett Jr. and George Colon Lockett.
She was married to the late Henry A. Hall of Valdosta for 49 years and is survived by their four children and their spouses, William Joseph Hall and wife Connie Hall of Valdosta, GA, Henry Alexander Hall of Valdosta, GA, Zan Rutledge Hall and wife Kathy Hall of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Susan Hall Flanders of Valdosta, GA; seven grandchildren, Brooke Hall Bowers, Austin Hall, Amanda Fletcher, Lane Fletcher, Brandon Hall, and Justin Hall, Stephanie Webb; and nine great grandchildren.
Claire graduated from Sylvester High School in 1948 and attended Georgia State College for Women for 2 years where she studied voice and sang in the Acapella choir. She went on to graduate from Auburn University in 1952 with a BS in Business Education, and a minor in English. While attending Auburn she was member of Delta Zeta Sorority and served as secretary.
After graduating from Auburn, she moved to Valdosta, GA and began her teaching career at Valdosta High School where she taught for 8 years. She went on to teach Business Education at the former Valdosta Technical Institute where she retired after 30 years of teaching.
Claire was a Charter Member and lifelong member of Park Ave United Methodist Church in Valdosta where she was a soloist in the choir, a long time Sunday school teacher, and taught the children’s choir. She sang in the Valdosta State University Symphony, the Singing Americans Show Band, The Symphony Choirs in Florida and South Carolina and loved playing the piano.

As Jesus said in Matthew 22:37 The Greatest Commandment of All, she truly loved the Lord our God with all her heart, with all her soul, and all her mind. She was a light and a joy for everyone God put in her life.
She always had a love for art and after retirement she and Henry moved to Florida where she attended the University of Central Florida and studied Drawing, Oil Base painting, and Water Color. She was a member of the Georgia and Florida Water Color Societies and received numerous awards for her work.
Other than her love for God, her family, music and art, she loved her dogs, Mitzi, Molly and Daisey. Her dogs were a big part of her life during retirement.
