Christine Monroe

Christine Monroe, 93, of Valdosta died Monday, January 9, 2017 at Lakehaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born on November 10, 1923 in Dooling, Georgia to the late L. O. and Ruth Nelson Patrick and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Monroe was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Mary Ann and Roger Wheelis of Valdosta; her son, Neal E. Monroe of Texas; two granddaughters, Cheryl and Daniel North, Holly Wheelis; one grandson and his wife, Christopher James and Kimberly Monroe; four great granddaughters and one great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Monroe.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Luke officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
