Choma Lee (Lastinger) Anderson, 92, of Hahira went home to be with the Lord Monday, December 10, 2007. She was born on February 14, 1915 in Lowndes county to the late Staten and Rhoda Register and was the wife of Earl V. Lastinger for over fifty years until his death in 1990. Mrs. Anderson lived many years as a resident of Jacksonville, Florida working some of those years for King Edward Cigar Factory.
A loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, she had a passion for gardening, sewing and cooking for her family, friends and church. She was an active member of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church for over fifty nine years.
Mrs. Anderson will be greatly missed by her husband of fifteen years, James (Jim) Anderson of Hahira, two daughters and sons in law, Alma Ruth and Charles Luke of Twin Lakes, GA and Doris and Sam Jacobs of Pomona Park, FL, one step daughter and step son in law, Peggy and Charles Rowe of Nashville, one step son, William (Billy) Anderson of Valdosta, one sister, Merlene Holton of Valdosta, one sister in law, Margaret Register of North Carolina, twelve grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren, fourteen great great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2007 at two p. m. at New Friendship Primitive Baptist Church With Elder Thad Marshall, Reverend Stanley Luke and Reverend Richard Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She will lie in state in the church for one hour prior to service time. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 12, 2007 from six until eight p. m. at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the building fund of New Friendship Primitive Baptist Church or to Langdale Hospice House.
