Charles Steve Estes

Charles Stephen (Steve) Estes, 54, of Valdosta and Hoover, Alabama died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Brookwood Medical Center in Homewood, Alabama. He was born on July 10, 1955 in Rome, Georgia to Mary Jane Brown Estes and the late Billy Thomas Estes and had lived in Valdosta for several years before moving to Hoover, Alabama. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and currently employed with the Southern Company. Mr. Estes was a wonderful husband, great father who worked very hard and provided well for his family. He loved the Lord and enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy McDonald Estes of Valdosta and Hoover, Ala., three daughters and two sons in law, Stephanie and Larry Pape of Zebulon, Holly and Wayne Connell, Sarah Estes all of Valdosta, son and daughter in law, Ryan and Sara Edmondson of Seattle, WA., daughter and son in law, Sarah and Dusty Lambert of Echols County, seven grandchildren, Hannah Stalvey, Jonathan Bash, Makaylah Kates, Rachel and Rebekah Pape, Kaden Bennett, Makennah Connell, his mother, Mary Jane Brown Estes, three sisters and brothers in law, Vicki and Gary Toland, Pam and Doug Hix, Marsha and Anthony Spears all of Rome, GA., numerous nieces and nephews, parents in law, Ernest and Marjorie McDonald of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Bolt Estes and his father, Billy Thomas Estes.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. John Klimko officiating. Entombment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
