Charles Ronald Moon

Charles "Ronnie" Moon, 65, of Lake Park, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL.

He was born July 15, 1945 in Cordele a son of Charles Jack and E. Jeannette Waldrip Moon. He graduated from Lowndes High School with the Class of 1964 and worked at Owens Illinois before moving to Pompano Beach, FL, where he was employed with Flexsol Packaging Corp. He worked nearly forty years as a Maintenance Machinist.

Ronnie was a former member of Morningside Baptist Church. He was a hard worker, enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing, being outdoors and working on engines and small motors. Above all he loved his family and always provided for them.

The Moon family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, teams and staff at the Mayo Clinic.

In addition to his parents of Valdosta, he is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Geraldine Emily Moon of Lake Park; six children, Melissa Ann Lewis of Crestview, FL, Charles H. and wife Tricia Love Moon of Valdosta, Kimberly R. Moon of Cary, NC, Daniel B. Weeks of Tifton, Melissa G. Weeks of Cary, NC, and Shannon M. and husband Tommy Bynum of Enigma; sixteen grandchildren, Dewayne Shaver, Ryan V. Storey, Ashley N. Lewis, Chandler J. Moon, Amanda Antonelli, Jessica Gassen, Dylan Butler, Mackenzie (Tootsie) Moon, Billy Andrew Weeks, Jason and Tamera Hancock, Christopher, Austin, and Emily Bynum, Jessica and Tyler Hancock; three great-grandchildren, Autumn Grace Shaver, Jamison Michael and Kayden Marie; and twin sisters, Sandra and husband Thomas Bellflowers of Hahira, and Wanda and husband Gary Miller of Rock Hill, NC. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Royce Duran and Ava Clyde Bowen Moon and J.W. and Velma Veal Waldrip.

Graveside services for Ronnie will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011, at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
