Charles L. Christian

Charles L. Christian, 62 of Miramar Beach, FL, died on Friday, March 23, 2018. Born in Valdosta, GA on Feb. 1, 1956, he grew up in Valdosta and graduated from Valdosta High School in 1974. He played football for the Wildcats during high school. After attending both Auburn University and Georgia Southern University, he graduated from Southern Mississippi State University in 1979, with a Bachelors Degree in Finance. After graduation, he worked briefly in New Orleans for Gulf Oil company before moving to Panama City, FL in the early 1980’s. He then began work in landscape contracting with his first company, Evergreen Landscaping. He later owned and operated a construction company, Christian Construction, LLC. Most recently he returned to his first love, landscaping, as owner of C.L. Christian, LLC. Charles really enjoyed working and being outdoors. Listening to music was also a favorite pastime. Charles was a long time and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Panama City, and more recently, he was a member of Crosspoint United Methodist Church, Niceville FL. Serving and volunteering at the “Suppers on Saturday” ministry was very important to him. Charles was devoted to his family and loved spending time with them.
Survivors include his daughter, Cara R. Christian; a son, David R. Christian, both of Panama City, FL; and a daughter and son-in-law, Georgia & Shawn Sanders of Leesburg, GA; grandchildren, Silas Christian, of Panama City, FL and Carolyn Sue Sanders & Eva Jane Sanders, both of Leesburg; his mother, Carolyn Bowen Christian of Valdosta; two brothers and a sister in law, F. Stan & Charlotte Christian of Quitman and Robert B. “Bob” Christian of Valdosta; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Frank S. Christian, Sr.
The funeral for Charles will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2018 in the Langdale Memorial Chapel of First Baptist Church. Rev. Brian Anderson and the Rev Dr. F. Stan Christian, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Chapel from 1 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Supper on Saturday” ministry at Crosspoint United Methodist Church, 214 Partin Dr. S. Niceville, FL, 32578.
