Charles C. "Charlie" Clark

May 24, 1941 — March 11, 2020

Charles C. “Charlie” Clark, 78, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 after a brief illness. Born in Valdosta on May 24, 1941 to the late Charles Cauthorn Clark III and Persis Burns Clark, Charlie grew up in Valdosta. He was on the golf team and graduated from Valdosta High School in 1959. He then went to Valdosta State College (now VSU) to study accounting. While at VSC, he met the former Betty Frances Freeman and they were married 1 week after college graduation in 1963. He went on to receive his MBA from VSU as well. Charlie briefly served his country in the US Air Force, but then returned to Valdosta and started work for the Langdale Company in the accounting department. He worked there for 25 years before going to work for Miller Hardware Company in the mid 1990’s. Charlie has worked at Miller up until the current time. He was active in the Azalea City Kiwanis club and is also a past president and a former member of the Board of Directors for the Mailbox Club. Charlie was a devoted husband, father and the spiritual leader of their home and was a past member and deacon of First Baptist Church and Perimeter Road Baptist Church and was a current member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Frances Clark, of Valdosta; two daughters, Cindy Clark of Valdosta and Cheryl & Brian Lingerfelt of Covington, GA; two grandchildren, Cate Lingerfelt, and Eli Lingerfelt, both of Covington; his brother, Chris Clark of Indian Rocks Beach, FL and many nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Persis Clark Menefee.
The funeral for Mr. Clark will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Anderson, his brother in law, will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the Mailbox Club, 404 Eager Road, Valdosta, GA 31602.
