Celia Ilene Cothron

Celia Ilene Cothron, 86, of Valdosta died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. She was born in Lowndes County on June 20, 1921 to the late George Mitchell and Alice Knight Cothron. Miss Cothron was a nurse at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio for forty years and returned to live in Lowndes County in 1983. She was a member of the Redland Baptist Church.

Survivors include a brother and sister in law, William C. and Elizabeth Cothron, sister and brother in law, Hilda and Stanley Zipperer all of Valdosta, special nephew, Georgia State Patrolman William Clayton Cothron, Jr., special niece, Sheri Lokey and her daughters, Beth and Julie Lokey all of Valdosta, numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Cothron and Glynn Cothron and two sisters, Mary Cothron and Sylvia Peters.

Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Mt. Zion Cemetery with Chaplain Nelson Acosta and Mr. Jimmy Watkins officiating. There will be no visitation. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home.
