Carroll Sterling Smith

April 21, 1935 — September 8, 2020

Carroll Sterling Smith, 85, of Hahira passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. He was born April 21, 1935 in Sycamore, FL to the late William Shepherd Smith and Eloise Hayes Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from the engineering office for the United States Postal Service. He served in the United States Air Force from 1953 at the ending of the Korean conflict until the beginning of Vietnam in 1964. Mr. Smith graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL in 1951. He was a Baptist and enjoyed working in his yard and pond feeding his fish and birds.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Frances Smith of Hahira, daughters, Angela (Dennis) Adams of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Stacy (Greg) Thompson of Brooks, GA, Sheryl (Jerry) Ingram of Emerson, GA and Missy Register (Nolan Barnes) of Valdosta, grandchildren, Colin (Karin), Colleen (Bert), Jennifer, Katie (Clay), Tyler (Ashley), Scott (Karen) and Kolby (Lauren), great grandchildren, Cowan, Lola, Kendall and a special nephew Alan Simms (Kimi). He is preceded in death by his sister, Olivia Margeson, and half-brother Richard McKinney.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2020 at eleven a. m. at Friendship Cemetery with Pastor David Gordon officiating. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Hahira First Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 555, Hahira, GA 31632. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com.
