Caroline Sims Bassford

Caroline Sims Bassford, 85, of Valdosta died Monday, February 11, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on May 2, 1922 in Valdosta, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Corinne Lineberger Sims. She worked many years in the ophthalmology practices of Dr. Richard K. Winston followed by Dr. Donald J. Mirate. Ms. Bassford was a member of First Baptist Church and the Valdosta Garden Club.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret S. Thompson of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, John and Margaretha Bassford of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Caroline M. Bassford of Valdosta; grandson, Matthew Spencer Bassford of Jacksonville, FL.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Mac Weaver and Dr. Phil West officiating. Burial will follow in Ousley Cemetery.
