Bobby Jack Cofield, 56, of Tifton died Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Tift Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 26, 1951 in Lowndes County to the late J. B. and Rudene Allen Cofield. He was prececed in death by a sister, Denise Stewart. He worked in law enforcement and was the owner of Sunny Car Sales Dealership. Mr. Cofield was a veteran of the United States Army, a former police officer and a member of Corinth Freewill Baptist Church in Brookfield where he was the song leader and a teacher fot eh Teen Sunday School Class. Mr. Cofield had lived in Lowndes County before moving to Tifton four years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Franks Cofield of Tifton, his mother in law, Maxine Franks of Tifton, one son, Lee R. Cooper of Rome, two daughters and son in law, Stacey and Jeff Hall of Valdosta, Amanda Cofield of Maryland, two brothers and sisters in law, J. B. Jr. and Nancy Cofield of Jacksonville, Fla., Judge Dewey and Joyce Cofield of Valdosta, one sister and brother in law, Shirley and Wilbur Pelphrey of Valdosta, four brothers in law and sisters in law, Lanny and Jan Franks of Tifton, Randy and Joyce Franks of Jesup, Ronny and Sherrie Franks of Cumming, Lenn and Lisa Franks of Rockford, TN., one sister in law and brother in law, Diane and Ronald Pickens of Tifton, three granddaughters, Brittini Cooper of Rome, Taylor Hall of Valdosta, Heather Cooper of Rome, special long time friends, Dwight and Sherry Ray of Valdosta, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, special cousins and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, September 16, 2007 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Clanton and Rev. Carroll Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7-9pm at the funeral home.
