Bobby D. Simmons, Sr.

Bobby D. Simmons, Sr., 74, of Hahira, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Whiteville, North Carolina on December 24, 1935 to the late Oscar Devon Simmons and Rosa Lee Hooks Simmons. Mr. Simmons was a retired Supervisor for Scruggs Asphalt and then retired from Summers Concrete. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the National Rifle Association and a staunch supporter of the Disabled American Veteran's.

Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ellen Sibbett Simmons on March 5, 2010 and is survived by one son, Bobby D. Simmons, Jr. of Athens, GA, two daughters and one son in law, Victoria L. Corffee of Jacksonville, FL and Jeri and Pete Forth of Hahira, five grandchildren, Christy Simmons, Adam Corffee, Wink Barnes, Quinn Simmons and Stephanie Simmons, four great grandchildren, one brother, Tommy Simmons of Augusta, GA, one sister, Wanda Warren of Jacksonville, FL, niece, Catherine Simmons and great niece, Caitlyn Simmons of Augusta, GA.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010 at five p. m. in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Reverend Wayne Boykin officiating. The family will receive friends from three until five p. m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Disabled American Veteran's, P. O.
