Billy (Bill) Edgar Blocker

Billy (Bill) Edgar Blocker of Valdosta died on June 2, 2013 at Langdale Hospice House following a sudden illness. He was born near Yemassee, Colleton County, SC, to the late George Pickney Blocker and Maude Ernestine Graves Blocker. He has lived in this area for many years, and had celebrated his 93rd birthday on May 13. Mr. Blocker worked in water treatment and plumbing for over 40 years, having retired from the water department of the City of Valdosta in the early 90's. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and had served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Blocker is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Letha Mae Godwin Blocker. Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Billy G. & Mary M. Blocker, of Valdosta; two grandchildren and their spouses, Nikki B. & Ashley Tye of Valdosta, Justin M. & Joni T. Blocker; two great-grandchildren, J. Mason and Naomi C. Blocker of Valdosta. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, in Yemassee, SC, Bulford, SC and in the Valdosta area.
Graveside services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Dr. Wayne Robertson officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 6-8pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
