Bill (Walter William) Wenck, Iii

December 26, 1949 — May 10, 2023

Bill (Walter William) Wenck III went to be with the Lord on the morning of May 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after a well-fought battle with pancreatic and bladder cancer. He was a fighter to the very end.

Bill was born on December 26, 1949 in Chattanooga, TN. During his early years, Bill moved throughout Georgia and Alabama due to his father’s corporate transfers. He excelled in academics and athletics, mainly playing baseball and football. After settling in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, he attended Cloud Springs Junior High where he was voted Most Studious and Mr. Warrior. He then attended The Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN. As a scholar athlete he was awarded FCA Athlete of the Year in 1967 and the Silver Saber Leadership Award when he graduated in 1968. Bill then attended the University of Tennessee, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and became a lifelong VOLS fan.

Bill met his bride Kathy at Sears in Valdosta, GA in 1974 and married the next year at the First Christian Church, where they are current members. Their honeymoon was spent meeting his new boss in South Florida. Three years later, Bill and Kathy welcomed their daughter Xan and two years later their son Will. Throughout Bill’s career the family made many moves together and shared beautiful memories in different cities throughout FL, IL, KY, and GA.

As a dad, Bill enjoyed coaching football and soccer, as well as being his children's number one fan. He was excited to share those experiences with his grandchildren one day. He was the most loving, nurturing, and amazing dad a daughter and son could ask for. Bill was a true family man. Whether it was cruises with his bride or with the family, it didn't matter where he was, as long as he had his family and treasured friends by his side. Fall was his favorite time of year, watching college football with his family all dressed in orange. GO ROCKY TOP!!

Bill is survived by his bride, Kathy Adams Wenck, daughter, Xan Ward (Craig) of Valdosta, GA, son, Will (Walter William) Wenck IV (Angie), grandchildren, Liam and Lane Wenck of Waco, TX, sisters, Mary Wenck Morris of Ringgold, GA, and Kitty Wenck Stanfield (Scott) of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, sister-in-law Betty Adams Grennan of Huntington Beach, CA, brother-in-law Nate Adams (Carol), his precious nieces and nephews, his cherished cousins, and many friends that he always considered family.

Bill is preceded in death by his father Walter William Wenck, JR and his Mother Loretta (Judy) Short Wenck.

We would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Sarmiento and the Emory of Atlanta Team, Dr. Ofori and the staff of Pearlman Cancer Center, Dr. Bishop and PA Matt Thomas with Valdosta Family Medicine, Suncrest Home Health and Hospice of South Georgia.

The family welcomes a donation on behalf of Bill to www.pancreatic.org, www.cancer.org, www.hospiceofsouthgeorgia.org
