Bettye Jeanne Hatcher Nichols

Bettye Jeanne Hatcher Nichols, 88, of Valdosta died on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Dothan, Alabama on July 10, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Hettye Kirkland and Thomas Efel Hatcher. She lived most of her life in Valdosta and had worked for 40 years in Civil Service at Moody Air Force Base. Bettye was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church and the Home Builders Sunday School Class. She loved gardening and working in her yard. An avid reader, she enjoyed cooking, loved animals and she was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors are her daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Holland and Robin Denzer of Valdosta; her son, Allen Denzer of Atlanta; six grandchildren, John lee (Amanda) Ingram, Whitney Ingram, Jason (Candice) Ingram, Thomas Jason (Daphne) Hall, Andrea Hall (Shelby) Warren, Krysta Denzer (Dan Schneider); eleven great grandchildren, Laila Hall, Lauren Hall, Kase Warren, Andrew Warren, Madilyn Hall, Peyton Wilson, Ivy Grace Ingram, Layla Lyons, Taylor Smith, Tyler Smith, Emily Morgan; a sister, Anita Shelton and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her two husbands, Loren Allen Denzer, and James R. Nichols; her parents, five brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Jimmy Towson will officiate. There will be a private committal at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
