Betty June Sikes Sheffield

June 8, 1964 — February 14, 2021

Betty June Sikes Sheffield, 56, of Valdosta, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Perry, GA on June 8, 1964 to the late L.V. Sikes and Dahlia Rachael Rewis Sikes. She graduated from Reidsville High School in 1984 and later from Brewton Parker College and OTC with a nursing degree. She worked for 10 years with Ogeechee Area Hospice. Mrs. Sheffield enjoyed quilting, boating, fishing, crossword puzzles, and art. She loved her family. She was a member of Church of God International.
Mrs. Sheffield is survived by her son Richard Sheffield, of Valdosta, daughter Kimberly (Eric) Kumlin, of Valdosta, a grandson Xander Reese Kumlin of Valdosta, three brothers, C.W. and Shelly Sikes, of Statesboro, Van and Dawn Sikes, of Statesboro, and Daniel and Aletha Sikes, of Braden, FL, three sisters, Thelma and Israel Irizarry, of Palm Beach, FL, Rachael and Jay Sikes of The Villages, FL, and Carolyn and Robert Howell, of Lake Park, GA, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rickey Eugene Sheffield, four brothers Lorn Sikes, Clifford Sikes, Jerry Sikes, Jack Sikes, and sister Lizzie Sikes. The family would like to express their gratitude to Bethany Hospice and Nurse Laura for the loving care given to Mrs. Sheffield.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 2pm at Joe E. Howell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home from 12:30-1:30 pm prior to the service. . Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.mclanecares.com.
