Betty Jean Crumbley

Betty Jean Crumbley, 83, of Valdosta, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013, in Adel.

She was born September 18, 1930 in Eldorado, a daughter of the late Frank and Mittie Baker Payne, and has been a resident of this area since 1966. Mrs. Crumbley, a member of Bemiss Road Baptist Church, was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna C. Fitzgerald of Valdosta, and Diane and Rick Kostuk of South Fork, Colorado; four grandchildren, Stacia Medina and husband Bonito of South Fork, Colorado, Shane Hedrick of Hickory, North Carolina, Somer Wadley and Shepherd Wadley both of Denver, Colorado; three great-grandchildren, Kayley Hedrick, Gabriel Medina and Sebastian Medina; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Ella Payne of Sylvester, Bobby Joe and Cathy Payne of Texas, Bruce and Esther Payne of Tifton, and Butch and Wanda Payne of Sylvester; numerous nieces and nephews; a close friend, who was like a son, Barry Godfrey of Valdosta; special friends, Beatrice and James Folsom of Adel; and her many special friends in Valdosta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ruel Crumbley, Jr.; two sisters, Barbara Sue Archer and Bonnie Smith; and one brother, Benny Payne.

Services for Mrs. Crumbley will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Edwards officiating. The entombment will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
