Betty Barlow

Betty Barlow, 81, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Richmond, VA on August 21, 1940, to the late Frank & Bessie Wilson Carroll, and grew up in a big family in Christiansburg, VA. Soon after high school she married Robert Leon Barlow on April 26, 1959. She followed her husband to several different bases and assignments during his Air Force Career as she raised her family. The last station for the Barlow’s was Moody Air Force Base and they stayed in Valdosta after his retirement. For nearly 20 years, Mrs. Barlow worked at the Moody AFB Commissary and the Base Exchange. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with and caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Evangel Assembly of God.
Survivors include her three sons and two daughters in law, Marvin & Patricia Barlow of Panama City, FL, Scott Barlow of Valdosta, and Bobby & Connie Barlow of Commerce and her special children, the children of her deceased son Marty that she raised as her own, Ayla & Christopher Barlow. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert Leon Barlow, a son Marty Leon Barlow, a grandson Adam Barlow, a great granddaughter Addison Johnson and 4 brothers and two sisters.
The funeral for Mrs. Barlow will be held at 11 am on Monday, August 15, 2022, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Pastor Franklin Walden, Jr. will officiate. The burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 4 until 6 pm.
