Benjamin James Herron, 22, of Valdosta died Monday, October 31, 2011. He was born in Seoul, Korea and had lived in Valdosta most of his life. Ben was a 2007 graduate of Lowndes High School where he played on the 2005 State Championship Football Team. He had attended Valdosta State University and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. Ben loved life, his family, neighbors, the outdoors and volunteering. He was a sports enthusiast and loved travelling with his brother. Ben was a member of the United States Naval Reserves and currently stationed with the Marines in Tallahassee, Florida. Ben had attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was currently attending Southland Church.
Survivors include his parents, David and Teresa Herron, his brother, Nicholas Herron all of Valdosta, his paternal grandfather whom he loved very much, James Herron of South Hill, VA., Sabrina Gupton his girlfriend whom he loved very much of Valdosta, his uncle, James Herron of Hurley, New York, a cousin, Derrick Jeong of Valdosta and many loving relatives in Korea. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Lorraine M. Herron and paternal stepgrandmother, Margaret Herron.
Funeral mass will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 5, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Dan O'Connell officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. A rosary will be held at 5pm, Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8pm.
