Baskin Brown

January 13, 1983 — January 11, 2021

Baskin Brown (Nathan Baskin Brown, III), age 37, passed away on January 11 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta from Covid-19. He is preceded in death by his father, Nathan B. Brown, Jr., his paternal grandparents, Nathan B. Brown and Sarah Reeves Brown of Augusta, and his maternal grandparents, Harry P. Parks, and Agnes Shackford Parks of Jacksonville. Baskin was born at Memorial Hospital in Adel, Georgia, to Jeanne and the late Nathan Brown. He graduated high school from Valwood School in 2001, continued his studies at Southern Polytechnic University on a tennis scholarship, and completed a B. A. in Political Science at Valdosta State University. Following in his father's footsteps, Baskin became a financial advisor with Edward Jones in 2009. He began his career in St. Louis, Missouri, worked in Guntersville, Alabama, for several years, and later relocated to Newnan, Georgia where he has since resided. From 2011-2012, Baskin earned the designation as an Accredited Asset Management Specialist through the College for Financial Planning.
He was an avid tennis player in middle school and high school, winning numerous tournaments in the USTA circuit. In college, Baskin was involved in the Sigma Nu Fraternity, and he has remained in touch with many of the friends he formed during that time.

Baskin is survived by his mother, Jeanne Healey Brown, as well as his sister, Adrienne Woske, his three nieces, Belle Broadfoot, Willow Woske, Gabby Woske. and one nephew, Parks Broadfoot, all who live in Valdosta. He will be missed by his aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his friends and colleagues—especially Johnny Holcombe (Valdosta), Sarah Holden (La Grange), Scott Trammel (Newnan), Scott Harrison (Cumming), Jenny Bradley (Newnan), Seth DeMott (Valdosta), and Yaphet Tadesse (Dallas).

Visitation will be held for Baskin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Carson McLane Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Mike Davis officiating. The family requests everyone wear face masks and observe social distancing during all services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Backpack Program with Feeding America (feedingamerica.org) or to Newnan City Church's Local Missions (17 First Ave., Newnan, GA, 30263).
