Arveta Carter Pitts, 94, of Jasper, Florida and formerly of Valdosta died Friday, August 9, 2013 at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper, Florida. She was born in Lake Park, Georgia on February 20, 1919 to the late Ivey Oliver and Lillie Mae Thomas Carter. Mrs. Pitts was a member of the former Lee Street Baptist Church now Crossroads Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and her beloved dog, Mac and playing BINGO and was an avid animal lover.
Survivors include her three daughters and two sons in law, Joyce Register of Valdosta, Faye and Morris Morgan of Jasper, FL, Geraldine and Paul Palmisano of Avondale, AZ, one son, Gene Pitts of Valdosta, 15-grandchildren, 25-great grandchildren and 4-great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Allison Pitts, two sons and daughters in law, Wayne and Shirley Pitts, Thomas G. (Tommy) and Patsy Pitts, two sons in law, Ellery G. Register and Derryl G. Crosby and two sisters, Allie Lee Carter and Beatrice McMillan.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Wilber Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10am until service time at the funeral home.
