Alton "Al" Wesley Sculley

Alton β€œAl” Wesley Sculley, retired Air Force Chief Master Sargent, 89, of Valdosta, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Cairo, GA to the late Modastas Sculley and Amanda Whigham Sculley. He graduated Cairo high school in 1948 and then joined the Air Force. Al was a Vietnam and Korean War Veteran and was proud of his service to his country. After serving for 20 years in the Air Force, he worked for the GSA managing the Federal Buildings in Valdosta and surrounding area for 23 years. He loved working in his yard. He sold real estate and was a big Atlanta Braves fan. He was in the Jaycees and was a Mason. Al enjoyed volunteering in the community.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Betty Jo Sculley of Valdosta; son Tom Sculley, of Valdosta; daughter Becky Parker of Valdosta; daughter Maria (Mark) Perkins, of Lake Park; daughter Janet Popham, of Lake Park; daughter Sharon (Richard) Nelson, of Seattle, WA; sister-in-law Dixie Ann (Jerry) Mitchell, of McIntyre; stepson Jim Colwell, of Valdosta; eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Willard Sculley, Julian Sculley, Douglas Sculley, and Rudolph Sculley, and a sister Dorothy Martin. The family would like to thank Cassandra for being a wonderful caregiver to Mr. Sculley.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com Carson McLane Funeral Home.
