Ala Faye Gerakines

February 22, 1946 — December 16, 2015

Ala Faye Gerakines of Ray City, left this earthly life on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 to continue her journey to be with her God after a valiant and long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family of which she was so proud and who have taken care of her during the last stage of her life.

Faye was born on February 22, 1946 in Valdosta, GA to Baldwin D. and Mary Hattie Ruth Avery Cribb. She was predeceased by her parents, and 4 sisters; Virginia Cribb, Marylin Stanley, Barbara Cribb, Brenda Cribb and one great-nephew, William Charles Cribb McLeod.

Faye is survived by her loving husband, RMST Pantelis Gerakines , six children: William P. Scott, Jr.(Debbie) of Adel, Samuel B. Scott (Nancy) of WV, Melissa Bryant (Greg) of WV, Angela Marsh, WV, Dexter Scott, Macon, Jason Scott of Valdosta, Two Step-Daughters: Toni Gerakines and Julie Gerakines and one Step-Son Brian Gerakines of Texas; 21 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren with one due in January 2016, two sisters; Dorothy McLeod (Raymond), Lynda P. Lepper (John) of Lake Park; one uncle, John Avery (Doris) of Ray City and numerous nieces and nephews.

Faye liked to say that she graduated from "the School of Hard Knocks" and worked in the restaurant industry most of her life, working for 12 ½ years with various Olive Garden restaurants. She also worked for a period of time with the coal mine industry in West Virginia where she made her home while raising her children. Faye enjoyed a unique connection with each of her family members and enjoyed life to the fullest. Faye joined the Pyle Baptist Church when she was a young girl and was of the Baptist faith. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Grave side services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Rev. Greg Lee officiating.
