Agnes J. Corbin

January 3, 1924 — March 20, 2015

Agnes J. Corbin, 91, of Valdosta, died on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Fellowship Home in Brooks County. Mrs. Corbin was born in Lowell, MA to the late Jean Baptist & Alexandrine East Defradas. In the mid 1940's she met Joseph Roland Corbin, and they married on November 22, 1945. During WWII, she helped make parachutes for the U.S. Army, while her husband served. The Corbins lived in Lowell until moving to Tonawanda NY in 1984. A decade later, they moved to Bellview, FL and lived there until moving to Valdosta in 2008 to be closer to family. Mrs. Corbin enjoyed sewing, knitting, cake decorating and making crafts. What joy her special occasion cakes and handmade heirlooms brought to her family. She loved visiting and spending holidays and vacations with her family. A lifelong Catholic by faith, she was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Joseph Roland Corbin of Valdosta, two daughters and sons in law, Elaine & Chris Keener, of Valdosta, and Jeannie & Steve Skiffington of East Amherst, NY; two sons and daughters in law, Michael & Yvonne Corbin of Weston, FL, Robert & Maryjane Corbin of Estero, FL., eight grandchildren, David Keener, of Denver, CO, Alison (Ryan) Francis of Duluth, GA, Stephen (Emily) Keener of Okinawa, Japan, Kacey (Timothy) Foust of Casselberry, FL, Douglas (Kelly) Corbin of Plantation, FL, Lisa (John) Warner of Nashua, NH, Joel (Danielle) Coursey of Galena, OH and Christine (Brett) Walker of Williamsville, NY. Also surviving is her sister, Pauline Wheeler of Bradenton, FL. and six great grandchildren, Lillian Corbin, Aidan & Graham Coursey, Jacob, Alec & Riley Walker. Mrs. Corbin is preceded in death by five sisters, Rolande Latour, Gabrielle Defradas, Marcelle Amlaw, Lucienne Garrigan and Aline Brunelle; and two brothers, Joseph Defradas and Louis Defradas. The family would like to send a special thank you to everyone at the Fellowship Home for their unconditional love and compassion for the elderly. Their kindness is much appreciated by the family.

A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Corbin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Father Brian LaBurt will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fellowship Home, 470 Fellowship Home Lane, Valdosta, GA 31602.
