A. James Martin

A. James (Jim) Martin, ended his battle with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2007, in Gainesville, Florida. He was born on May 19, 1942, in Grafton, West Virginia. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Martin owned Martin Insurance Services, Inc. in Valdosta.

Mr. Martin is survived by a wife, Marcia Hazen Martin; a son, Jeff Martin; a daughter, Sheila Diuguid (Davy); a step-son, Bill Furlong (Jackie); a step-daughter, Debra Roberson (Ricky) and a step-daughter, Valarie Edwards (Wayne). He is also survived by six grandchildren, Clint Edwards, Clay Edwards, Radd Roberson, Alexis Diuguid, Tyler Martin and Jefferson Diuguid. Mr. Martin is also survived by a brother, Junior Martin and sister, Macel Knotts.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Crossroads Baptist Church in Valdosta, Georgia. Dr. Ken Alford and Reverend Tom Daniel will officiate. Following, there will be a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in LaCrosse, Florida. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at Carson McLane Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Crossroads Baptist Church Building Fund.
