Benton (Ben) Anderson, 86, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, August 02, 2017, at Fellowship Home following a lengthy illness. Born in Topeka, Kansas, May 31, 1931, he was the son of the late, Robert Grant Anderson and Evelyn Fern Anderson. Ben and Salley were married in 1960 in Kansas City and were happily married for 51 years. Ben was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying kayaking, canoeing, sailing and camping. Very active in Boy Scouts of America, all 3 of Ben's sons achieved Eagle Scout under their father's guidance.
Survivors are three sons, Robert (Susie) Anderson of Hahira, Benton S. (Maria) Anderson of Winter Park, Florida, Brian (Annette) Anderson of Commerce; 8 grandchildren, 1 greatgrandchild; a brother, Sydney (Justine) Anderson of Birmingham, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant son, Mark, two brothers, Robert Hunt Anderson and Gene Anderson.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend David Tart will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or your local Boy Scouts of America Council.
