Obituary

Johnny T. Cooper, 80, of Valdosta, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 following a short illness. Born in Nashville, GA., on March 28, 1937, he was the son of the late Dewey Lee Cooper and Mary Lanier. Mr. Cooper was a self-employed owner of an auto paint and body shop. He was a real people person who never met a stranger and was an avid family genealogist and historian. Mr. Cooper loved nature, being outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grands. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Betty Ann Cooper of Valdosta; a son, Tommy Cooper of Valdosta; daughters, Darlene (Michael) Fortunato of Jacksonville, FL., Shawna Lee (Donnie) White of Valdosta; grandchildren, Ashleigh (Bryan) North of Lanier County, Corey Clarkston of Jacksonville, FL., Kristen (Joshua) Carter of Leesburg, Kaylee White and Kyle White of Valdosta; greatgrandchildren, Ansleigh, Caleb, Ethan, and Eli North of Lanier County; a brother, Junior Cooper of Nashville; sisters, Jo Sanders of Valdosta, Doris Booth of Ray City, Joyce Booth of Nashville. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Ruby Cooper and a brother, James Cooper.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will follow at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church in Berrien County. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 -8 p.m. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
