Lillian Cowart Goodyear, 85, of Langdale Place died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born on January 25, 1928 in Lanier County to the late Daniel S. and Laura Hughes Cowart. Mrs. Goodyear lived in Blakely for many years before returning to this area several years ago. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blakely and retired as an administrative assistant with John Deere Tractor Company in Blakely.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Patsy and David Melvin of Palm Coast, FL, her sons and daughters in law, Dan and Teresa Goodyear of Acworth, GA, Tommy and India Ann Goodyear of Thomson, GA, six grandchildren and their spouses, Alan and Lisa Hankins, Ashley and Chip Sherwood, Brittany and Christopher Gaunder, India and Phil Wilkinson, Mary Heath Goodyear, McLean Goodyear, five great grandchildren, David Hankins, Laura Hankins, Ansley Hankins, Madison Sherwood and Christopher Gaunder, one sister and brother in law, Lorean and Candler Register of Homerville, one brother, Herbert Cowart of St. Charles, MO., two sisters in law, Margaret Cowart and Margie Goodyear both of Hahira. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Goodyear, a brother, Donald Cowart, five sisters, Pearl Schaefer, Pat Register, Ruth Spell, Myrtle Hughes and Mary Lee Womack and a sister in law, Shirley Cowart.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the New Friendship Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7pm at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, P. O.
