Dr. Webster W. Teague, Jr., 83, of Valdosta died Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on August 5, 1929 in Dermott, Arkansas to the late Webster W. Sr. and Leatie Virginia Douglas Teague and had lived in Valdosta since 1956. Dr. Teague was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as Minister of Music for forty one years and worked with the Meals on Wheels. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Dr. Teague graduated from Quachita State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and received a masters and doctoral degree from Florida State University. Dr. Teague retired from Valdosta State University as a professor of music after thirty two years of service and served as director of the Valdosta Choral Guild for many years and enjoyed teaching private organ and piano lessons. He was also a member of the Valdosta Kiwanis Club. Dr. Teague's greatest joys were being with his family and serving God.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Beverly Smith Teague of Valdosta, his son, John Lawrence Teague of Valdosta, his daughter, Amy Loskoski of Savannah, GA, his four grandchildren, Danielle Gross of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Sarah Loskoski, Thomas Loskoski, Rebecca Loskoski all of Savannah, GA, two sisters in law, Jayne Teague of Hope, AK, and Kathy Smith of Atlanta, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Sgt. Grady B. Teague of Hope, AK.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Friday, July 12, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Dwyn Mounger officiating. Entombment will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
