Johnny Ard

Johnny Ard, 50, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 1, 1967, Johnny was a first round draft pick for the Minnesota Twins in 1988 and later played for the San Francisco Giants. He loved fishing and spending time with his boys. A much loved baseball coach, he loved his players and treated them as they were his own boys. Johnny worked as a Senior Fiber Optic Tech with the Southern Company. He was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Bonnie, sons, Luke Ard and Jude Ard all of Valdosta; his mother, Nina Dewitt of California, and a brother, Joey Ard of South Carolina. Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Harley Proctor Ard and a brother, Jimbo Ard.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. at Park Avenue United Methodist Church. Reverend Hale Bishop and Mr. Justin Crenshaw will officiate.
