Geraldine M. (Jerry) Corbett

Geraldine M. (Jerry) Corbett, 78, of Valdosta, died on June 20, 2018 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born on May 3, 1940 in Tampa, Florida to the late Burke and Lucille Moore Colding. She was retired from the City of Valdosta after 20 years of service with the Parks and Recreations Department. She was involved with the senior citizens of Valdosta through the Parks and Recreations and was the coordinator for the various travels taken by the senior groups. Travels included places like Hawaii, England, and Australia just to name a few. Jerry was actively involved with various projects and organizations throughout her life and was instrumental in making each a success. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Don Corbett of Valdosta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and David Jarrett of Tampa, Florida, and Trina and Donnie Thomas of Valdosta; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jordan, Joshua, and Tanner Jarrett all of Tampa, and Jamie and Shana Thomas of Valdosta, Brittany and Allen Folsom and Ansley and Justin Haskin all of Hahira; six great-grandchildren, Allie and Tucker Thomas, Holt, Tate, and Greer Folsom, and Graham Haskin; her sister, Jane Buzbee of Ruskin, Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Mary Colding of Tampa, Florida; a special care giver, Sharon Meriweather; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Corbett; a brother, David Colding, and three sisters, Marianne Belisle, Marie Helms, and Becky Sawyer.
Services for Jerry Corbett will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. John Akers officiating. The burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
