Edith Marjorie Jett “Margie,” 83, of Valdosta, passed away on July 6, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center.

Margie was born in Valdosta on August 4, 1934. She was the oldest daughter of James Garnett Holtzclaw and Edith Sims Holtzclaw. She played basketball for Valdosta High School and served as co-captain her senior year. Margie’s love of sports lasted a lifetime. Tennis became her passion and she spent many happy hours on the courts.

As a young military wife Margie traveled the world before settling in Brevard County, Florida in 1970. She retired from United Space Alliance at Kennedy Space Center in 2010. Margie was always happy to share her many interests with others whether it was digging in her garden, sewing and quilting, cooking or wandering the beach at sunrise. She never knew a stranger and was always ready to go the extra mile for everyone.

Margie is survived by her four daughters, Rebecca, Laura, Betsy and Bridget along with her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her three brothers, Billy Holtzclaw, Charles Holtzclaw and Steve Holtzclaw and many beloved nieces, nephews and other extended family and life-long friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Nettie Friis, and two brothers, Jimmy Holtzclaw and Winston Holtzclaw, and her grandson, Jason Tavernier.

A celebration of Margie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 4th from 10 a.m. to noon at Park Place, 108 West Park Avenue, Valdosta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to The Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation at www.helpfightra.org.
