Betty J. Sorenson

December 24, 1939 — February 20, 2018

Betty J. Sorenson, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Macon, on December 24, 1939, daughter of Eldridge and Ollie Mae Sikes Suddeth. Prior to meeting the love of her life and moving to Valdosta, she was a hairdresser for eighteen and a half years in the Atlanta area. In Valdosta, she and her husband, Blake Sorenson, started Mobile Phone and Beeper, Inc., /A-1 Communications. Betty and Blake ran their company successfully for over twenty years. She loved to fish and enjoyed gambling in Biloxi, Mississippi, where she was queen of the Slot Machines. Spunky, kind and loved by all who knew her, Betty never met a stranger. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful mother, sister, wife, grandma and friend.
Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Blake Sorenson, her parents, and a brother, James Suddeth. Survivors include her dedicated daughter, Susan Clark, Valdosta; her son, Rick (Sue) Clark, England; grandchildren, Jessica (Storm) Stillman, California, Christa (Chris) Hayes, Asheville North Carolina, Teresa (Scott) St. Clair, Jefferson, Nichole (Sean) Bevilacqua, Daytona, Beach, Florida, Blake (Shanice) Sorenson, Athens, Gabrielle Sorenson, Daytona Beach, Florida; great grandchildren, Elliana Bevilacqua and Lotus Faure of Daytona Beach, Florida; her twin brother, Benny (Lois) Suddeth, Macon, brothers, David (Meschal) Suddeth, Macon, Robert (Linda) Suddeth, Lizella, sisters, Sarah Sawley and Teresa (Charles) Manning both of Byron; sister in law, Karla Suddeth, Byron, brother in law and sister in law, Jay (Debra) Webber, Tarpon Springs, Florida; her first husband, Richard Clark; many cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Relatives and friends are welcome at the service on Friday, February 23, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Reverend Bob Willis will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Memorial contributions are welcome and should be mailed to the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
