Benjamin Smith Hightower

Benjamin Smith Hightower, age 91, of Valdosta, died on Monday, May 21, 2018 at his home. B.S. was born in Valdosta, on November 24, 1926 to the late Carroll Smith Hightower and Lillie Moore Hightower. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, was retired from Owens Illinois bag plant and an experienced cabinet maker.

He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Treina Dove of Monticello, FL; Brenda Ojevaar (Otto) of Valdosta; three grandchildren, Christopher Dove (Shannon) of Houston, TX; Holly Dove Rozzi (Michael) of Hampton Bays, NY; Ellen Ojevaar of Amsterdam, Netherlands; four great grandchildren, Jonah Dove, Samuel Dove, Vivian Rozzi, Nathan Rozzi, sisters, Ida Lou Carter, Aline Voltz, Ruth Smith (George), brothers, Edward Hightower (Madlyn), and John Hightower (Mary Frances) all of Valdosta and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Sarah Rogers Hightower, sisters Anna Pearl Nell, Catherine Cowart and Clyde Moore.

Graveside services for Mr. Hightower will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Hightower Cemetery with Mr. Christopher Dove officiating. Condolences may be conveyed on the obituary page of www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home
