The following are a list of grief support groups and associations in the greater Valdosta area. Please contact us to add your group to our list.
New Hope Support Group: "Supporting Each Other"
Sponsored by McLane Funeral Services
McLane Funeral Services feels that it is the service after the service that genuinely makes life better for those who have lost a loved one. We trust that you will continue to feel free to call us if you need help with any pending details. Dolores Everette on our staff contacts the surviving spouses we have served by telephone to follow up and see how they are doing and to encourage them to feel free to express any concerns they may have to Mrs. Everette.
In an effort to fulfill the promise of continued service to our families McLane Funeral Services provides a grief support group for adult survivors. Time can be a great healer, however, acknowledging and openly sharing grief's full range of thoughts and emotions can be a crucial part of the survival process. Understanding your feelings and expressing your thoughts can be difficult but attending a support group provides an essential opportunity to gain insight to most effectively work through the painful grieving process and come to terms with loss. A support group is a safe haven where you can talk, listen, cry, laugh, share fears, guilt and anger.
- McLane Funeral Services' New Hope Support Group meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at the Scoop located at Sugar Creek Plaza, 1575 Baytree Road, Valdosta at 5:30 p.m. Join us at the Scoop as we share our grief, comfort and encourage each other. Please contact Dolores Everett, Brenda Howell or Denise Munro at 242-5544 for additional details.
- McLane Funeral Services' New Hope Support Group Monthly Newsletter is mailed the last week of each month to those we have served who have experienced the loss of a spouse. It contains pertinent information about the monthly meetings and features "A Cup of Comfort," stories that warm your heart, lift your spirit, and enrich your life as well as excerpts from our own Greif Library. For more information about our monthly newsletter you may contact Brenda Howell at brenda@mclanefuneralservices.com
